Terry Jimenez is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors at Turtle Beach Corporation (NASDAQ: HEAR). Terry is also an adjunct professor with Northern Illinois University teaching in MBA Programs in Illinois and Bogota, Colombia. Most recently, Terry has provided Financial, Operational, Strategy and M&A consulting to G/O Media (backed by PE Great Hill Partners) and Salad & Go (fast growing fast casual chain).
Previously, Terry served as Chief Executive Officer, President and member of the Board of Directors at Tribune Publishing Company (NASDAQ: TPCO) a diversified media company with $1 Billion in annual revenue from January 2020 through May 2021. At Tribune Publishing, Terry oversaw approximately 4,000 employees and drove an increase of 32% in market value to shareholders during his CEO tenure and throughout pandemic outperforming peers and indexes. Headquartered in Chicago, Tribune Publishing operated local media businesses including the Chicago Tribune, NY Daily News, Baltimore Sun, Orlando Sentinel, South Florida's Sun-Sentinel, Virginia’s Daily Press and The Virginian-Pilot, The Morning Call of Lehigh Valley, PA, the Hartford Courant, the Daily Meal and BestReviews serving an engaged 60 million digital users.
Terry served on the board as Chairman of BestReviews.com (Tribune 60% ownership stake) a leading successful eCommerce media business. Terry oversaw the spectacular growth that led to a $160M exit which was a 4x return for Tribune. Additionally, Terry negotiated and completed the sale of the California properties for an exit of $590M (an additional 4 turns of multiple above what Tribune was trading at). Prior to serving as Chief Executive Officer, from April 2016 Terry was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Tribune Publishing.
Prior to Tribune Publishing, Terry was a Partner within IBM’s Global Business Services division from 2012 to 2016. Terry was responsible for executing large global services deals and had worked with clients in the UK, Ireland, Poland, Brazil, Netherlands, Italy, France, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Australia and South Africa spanning Telco, Aerospace & Defense, Retail, Restaurants, Consumer Product Goods, Industrial, Financial Services and Media Industries.
Prior to IBM, Terry held roles in the media industry including Publisher/President of Newsday Media Group after COO and CFO roles from 2005-2012. From 2003-2004, Terry served as Controller for the Chicago Tribune.
From 1994 – 2003, Terry held various accounting, financial and strategy positions with McDonald’s Corporation. Terry last served as a Finance Director for McDonald’s Corporation with responsibility for strategic business planning, negotiation, and the integration of joint ventures. Terry was the financial, valuation and integration lead for McDonald’s acquisitions of Donatos Pizzeria and Boston Market as well as the integration lead for McD JV with Fazoli’s.
Terry holds a BS in Accounting from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He passed the certified public accountant examination in Illinois. Terry also attended one-week programs at the London Business School and the Thayer Leadership Program at West Point.
In addition to serving as Chairman of the Board for Turtle beach, Terry is on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland/NW Indiana serving as Audit Committee Chair and Treasurer, Northern Illinois University’s College of Business and is a member of the Northern Illinois University President’s Advisory Council. Previously, Terry was a member of the Board of Directors for Tribune Publishing Company, BestReviews.com (served as Chairman), not-for-profit board of the News Media Alliance and member of the Economic Club of Chicago among other NFP Boards.
